Welcome! COMMUNITY YOGA with Rachel VerValin

Rachel VerValin will be kicking off our Peace of Mind event with a community yoga class. She will guide us through a series of postures and poses to wake up the body, create space, and tune in to the breath, body, and mind - preparing for the day ahead. 

More than just a yoga teacher, Rachel has been intimately involved with this fundraiser since its inception. Last year, we moved her class to the beginning of the event and nearly 125 people gathered together to breath in and let loose. For those of you that haven’t taken a class with Rachel before, it’s more like letting loose and getting down as her funky flow guides us through a vinyasa class suitable to all levels.

radiance meditation: a practical approach

Meditation can be a tremendous aid in your path to a life of joy and fulfillment, free of unnecessary worry, anxiety and stress. Yet, if we are trying too hard to ‘control our thinking’, or sit up straight, or follow a breath or mantra without interruption, we may get frustrated and miss out on some of the inherent benefits of meditation.

Meditation is a process in which all parts of you come to the surface to receive your generous, kind attention. Healing and integration happens when we embrace all of our experiences, learn from them, and integrate what we learn into our whole Self.

Open Heart Kids Yoga (ages 3-6)

Open Heart Kids Yoga generally begins with a warm-up, breath work, asanas, a story, rest time, meditation, game and goodbye song. There is music singing and laughing throughout. Parent or Guardian participate with the child. No experience necessary.

Hannah offers an interdisciplinary Power Vinyasa style practice that combines whole body movement and focus on breathe.  Her training includes Power Vinyasa & Self Awakening Yoga, and she enjoys drawing from Kundalini, Dance, Pilates, and other disciplines.  Her hope is to deliver the same light hearted playfulness and inquiry it brings her.    

All levels welcome!

This one hour class will is designed to open up the shoulders and hips which develop tightness due to our daily lives.  We will begin with a seated meditation, get nice and warm, and dive into deep shoulder and hip openers. Beginners welcome. No experience necessary. All levels.

This class will primarily focus on the health aspects of Tai Chi, and instruction in rudimentary movement. Tai Chi participants should wear loose comfortable clothes, minimal jewelry (no watches or bracelets), and flat cotton-soled shoes (or socks).

Too often we are on the go in this society, and this rest and reset time is crucial to balanced emotions, mind, and body. Please bring a blanket or two to the class for extra comfort.

In serving hundreds of students in the last 2 years at Yoga Farm, we have found two practical tools that hold great potency to swiftly guide you to an inner place of peace, stability, and calm. We will teach you a beautiful silent meditation practice and a mindfulness tool that you can utilize anytime, anywhere. 

We’ll also have time for questions and answers about meditation and mindfulness. This workshop is ideal to those new to Mindfulness practices & Meditation, as well as those who seek to brush up their meditation practice.

Yoga in a pinch is a modified sequence of poses for yoga in any situation where mobility is limited: at the office, on the airplane, in a meeting, watching a long movie in the theater, sitting in a waiting room, or any other situation. These poses have been designed for people of all ability levels, but are ideal for those who desire an accessible, safe, and versatile practice that does not require getting to the floor. Yoga in a Pinch will focus less on classical yoga poses and more on fundamental, everyday movements that can be incorporated into a reliable and sustainable quotidian practice for long-term wellness, including spine health, joint lubrication, and muscle maintenance.
