What is it?
A fundraising and community building event designed to show you a variety healing practices that, in addition to counseling, supports optimal mental health and well-being.
The Peace of Mind event has traditionally included half a day of yoga classes and workshops. This year we are adding an additional session and new opportunities to practice meditation, tai chi, reiki, get a massage, and receive acupuncture. Registration includes our community yoga class, three additional yoga classes, wellness workshops and/or treatments, food and refreshments and the potential to win prizes donated by Rasa Spa!
Why Host one?
Too many members of our community struggle with depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. The approach to mental health wellness is as individual as those that it affects. Yoga and the other activities we have in store are examples of low-risk and high-reward wellness practices that also are a strong complement to the mental health practices such as psychotherapy and psychiatry offered at F&CS.
So why not bridge the gap between what we do, and what we need to do - raise money to support high quality, accessible and affordable mental health services.
With the inauguration of the Peace of Mind Yogathon in 2015 - later evolved into a Day of Yoga and Wellness, we provided an event that brought the community together around a common goal – celebrate well-being while raising money to ensure we provide mental health services to everyone who needs help. Hopefully in the process, we’ll also be able to introduce this valuable therapeutic technique to members of the community who otherwise might not discover its valuable benefits.
The Peace of Mind event is a fun, energizing, educational community event that supports the mental health needs of our community! It's a win-win!
